2020 Round: Annual Report – 8G vs Loftus Yarrawarrah – :
The team this season comprised of 11 players. For 5 of the players, this was their first time playing the game. It was great to see so many new players, not only to our club but the game as well.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the team only had 1 real training session where all of the team were able to train together prior to the first game.
For the 5 new players, this was a challenge as they were all still learning the basics such as ball control, dribbling etc.
For the players returning, this year also presented new challenges of throw-in’s, corners and goal keeping.
Coming into the first few games with the challenges we had we knew the start of the season would not be easy.
I am proud of the team and the way they have learned and fought their way through. After the first few games the team started to show the improvements that they had been working hard at training to deliver.
Come the second half of the season, the improvement of the team was easily visible. The team was starting to play in structure. They started to show positional preferences. Their touch on the ball and movement improved, they were playing as a team and then the goals started to come.
By the end of the season, the improvement of the team was clear to be seen by all.
I really hope all of the team enjoyed their season and are keen to come back next year. I know I am keen to see them all come back and continue the journey we had started this year.
I would like to thank all the team for putting in all the effort that they have at training and in the games. They have all shown how keen they are to play and learn. The results at the end of the season have shown that hard work pays off.
I would also like to thank Sophie and Nathan for managing the team, ensuring that all of us know where to be every week and helping me on the sidelines during the games.
Lastly, thanks to all the parents for allowing your children to play, supporting them on the sidelines and helping us with wearing Orange Jackets and completing Ground Control duties as this helps keep the team and the club going.
